JOSEPHINE MUVUMBA – WIM

Who is Josephine Muvumba?

Her career spans almost 20 years who is currently the Managing Director at MetropolitanRepublic Uganda.

MetropolitanRepublic is part of the MetropolitanRepublic Group, a full-service communications company, with a firm and highly valued Strategic and Behavioral Change reputation. Metro’s Consultant Deployment Offering is now operational in 11 Countries in Africa.

She started out as an intern at Scanad Uganda. She is an insight-seeker and brand-builder, passionate about solving communication problems and creating dynamic teams.

Josephine is Formerly general Manager in charge of IMC/Creative Director/Senior Copywriter/Creative Strategist.

After 3 years, and two promotions, Muvumba moved to Saatchi & Saatchi (QG Group) where she was Chief Copywriter responsible for Conceptual Advertising for 3 years.

 She ended up leaving to join Nicola Brown’s agency, Ignition as a shareholder, founder and Creative Director. We grew the company over a period of 2 to 3 years from 2 founders up to 15 people.

After 5 years, she I left Ignition and returned to QG to help set up their new office in Kigali. She was Deputy MD and Creative Director at the same time.

In 2023, MetropolitanRepublic won its first UMEAS award as Agency of the year.

Education

She’s alumni of Makerere University’s Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Art among her various qualifications

ANNETTE NAKIYAGA – WIM

Who is Annette Nakiyaga?

Annette is a Sales, Marketing & Communications professional with experience spanning 15 years across sectors including FMCGS & Banking.

Experience
She is the current Head of marketing and communications I&M Bank Uganda formerly Orient Bank Uganda since June 2022

Annette joined I&M Bank Uganda from Uganda Breweries where she served as Head of International Premium Spirits & RTD category.

At Diageo,she also served as Head of Luxury Portifolio for over 2 years where she grew the Reserve Brand strategy, marketing plans.

Annette also served as the Scotch Brand Manager for 1 year,Luxury Consumer Engagement Manager for over 3 years where she led a team of managers, across Experiential, Digital and media staff to deliver her mandate.

Her career at UBL started in 2010 as a customer relationship executive to Key accounts manager in 2012.

Annette will always be remembered for launching the UBL’s reserve and Luxury portfolios with marketing initiatives that served over 200 Uganda’s most influential people in one room.

 

She is remembered for leading the ideation and execution high profile events including the Singleton Golf Challenge, The Johnnie Walker Blue club parties, the Bailey’s Picnic Experience, the Ciroc Brunch among other key premium events.

She is on this ranking having turned around the I&M brand in the shortest time possible. This has been achieved through strategic partnership and key brand sponsorships that the bank had never participated in. They include Mastercard, Buganda Kingdom, Golf, entertainment among others

Education
The graduate of bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Makerere University holds other certifications including Luxury Capability Program and Brand Building from INSEAD Business School.

She holds various honors and awards including EABL Marketing Leadership Award, UBL Annual MDs Award among others.

Who is Clare Gatabi?

Clare is a marketing professional with over 15 years of experience in experience in Banking, insurance, and Advertising and FMCG’s

Experience

She is currently the Marketing and Communications Head at Equity bank having moved from Ecobank Uganda.

Her key strengths include Marketing Management, Business Planning, Banking, Market Research, and Management.

Claire served as Marketing Director at Ballpack Insurance Group for 5 years with key responsibilities including overall promotion of the company’s image to create aggregate sustainable demand for brand’s products and services.

Prior to that, she worked at Finance Trust Bank as Head of Marketing for a period of 6 years responsible for Marketing and business development function of the Bank to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies, reputation, crisis management, CSR, Product development.

Claire served in other various brands including Senior Manager Marketing at National Insurance Corporation Uganda, Marketing Manager at Microcare for 5 years.

Education

The graduate of Makerere University holds an MBA from Uganda Martyrs University among her various qualifications.

Who is Allen Ayebare ?

Allen is an accomplished marketing and communications leader with over 18 years of experience in Marketing, communications, corporate reputation management, crisis management, CSR and sustainability, corporate governance, customer experience especially in the financial sector.

Experience
Allen is the current Chief Manager, Corporate Affairs and Communication at Centenary Bank and has been with the bank for the last 12 years.

At Centenary Bank. Allen oversees corporate affairs including public relations, Internal and External Communications strategy across Traditional and Digital channels, Crisis management, CSR, Social performance Management among other roles. She manages a team of over 15 staff across the discipline.

She joined Centenary Bank from British Council where she served as Marketing and Communications Manager for close to 2 years.

Allen has also worked with brands including DFCU Bank for over 3 years, and National Housing and Construction Company as Sales and Marketing Officer for over 3 years.

Education
She is graduate of Bachelor of Arts, Social Sciences and hold Master of Business Administration both from Makerere University.

She also holds a diploma in Internal Communications, a Diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations among her other qualifications.

Who is Hellen Nangonzi ?

Hellen Nangonzi is an accomplished leader with over 18 years of career experience especially in banking.

Experience

She is currently the Marketing and Customer Experience Director Absa Uganda for the responsible for Segment Marketing and Communications, Product Development and Brand Management, Client Experience Management, Sustainability, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Crisis Management, and Community Engagement.

She led the team to successfully rebrand from Barclays to Absa with a positioning that has since elevated the brand to top 5 commercial banks by profit in Uganda.

Hellen spent 14 years at Standard Chartered bank both in Uganda and East Africa and held several positions including Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing, Kenya & East Africa  for over 3 years, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing at Standard Chartered Bank, Uganda for over a year among other roles.

Education

Hellen holds post graduate Diploma in professional Marketing from CIM UK, an MBA from Eastern and southern Africa Management Institute(ESAMI), Executive MBA and bachelor’s degree, Social Sciences from Makerere University among her other academic qualifications.

Who is Evelyne Mwasa?

She is formerly the Director Communications and Marketing at World Vision Uganda a role she has been in since 2020 and left in 2023.

Experience

Evelyn possesses over 20 years’ experience in communications, business development, stakeholder relationship/Partnerships management, advocacy, grant management, Strategy and public health programming

She was a Coordinator Resource Mobilization, Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) for a period of 2 years.

Evelyn has also been a Director/Head -Marketing and Strategic Communications at USAID/ Johns Hopkins University-CCP and Uganda Health Marketing Group Consortium for a period of 5 years.

She served as Senior Assistant Manager- Business Development Insurance Company of East Africa (ICEA Group) for 4 years, Guest Lecturer (Stakeholder Marketing, Delivering Customer Value Through Marketing),Uganda Management Institute/Chartered Institute of Marketing-UK Programme for 2 years,

Evelyn was previously the Head of Marketing Dembe FM radio (Now under Nation Media Group) for I year having come from Sanyu FM as Head Marketing for 7 years.

She is still a Board Executive (Academics & Discipline)Board Executive (Academics & Discipline) Namilyango College for the last 8 years

At Sanyu FM, she started off as a Senior Marketing Executive then to Key Account Manager, and finally Head of Marketing. Her first account was Nile Breweries for which she developed compelling properties to drive the brand and it’s still a key account to this day

At Dembe FM she Set out to turn around the Station’s bottom line when it was bought by Simba Group.

At ICEA she Managed the health of the Corporate Brand, and steered growth of the branch network.

Education

Evelyn is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing/CIM -UK, a Chartered marketer, advanced qualifications in communications (CAM)-UK.

She is an Alumna of the Johns Hopkins University Leadership in Strategic Health Communications, and a Social Scientist.

GORETTI MASADDE – WIM

Who is Goretti Masadde?

Goretti is a marketing communications ppffesional with over 20 years of leadership experience across strategy, communications, risk management, change management, business development among others.

Goretti is the current CEO at The Uganda Institute of Banking & Financial Services since March 2020.

Experience

Her first employment position after graduating from Makerere University was as a brewer with Uganda Breweries Limited, the Ugandan subsidiary of Diageo.

While there, she served as brand manager for Bell Lager. Goretti happens to have been the first practicing female brewer in Uganda and East Africa, at that time.

She served as the Director of Marketing, Communications and Sales at Program For Accessible Health Communication and Education (PACE), a Ugandan non-government organization (NGO), affiliated with Population Services International.

She also worked and Head of Corporate Communications and Product Development at former Orient Bank for 2 years. Her responsibilities included Development, direction and supervision of internal and external marketing, brand and PR communications strategy, development and execution of advertising campaigns, development and execution of annual CSR and other PR programs among other roles.

Prior to that, Goretti served as the Head of Corporate Communications at Global Trust Bank for a period of 3 years.

Education

The old girl of Mount Saint Mary’s College Namagunga holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing by The Chartered Institute of Marketing  UK, a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology among her other academic qualifications

SUSAN NSIBIRWA (MCIM,MBA) – WIM

Who is Susan Nsibirwa?

Susan is a marketing and communications professional with over 25 years of experience, with 15 years of these in senior executive roles successfully leading corporate, marketing and communications teams and departments across diverse industries.

She becomes Nation Media Group`s Uganda first female Managing Director effective Jan 2nd, 2024.She rejoins NMG this time not as rookie journalist of 1992 but a multi skilled Marketing leader.
She will be responsible for leading NMG Uganda, The East African and Africa Broadcasting (U) Limited (the broadcasting company that operates NTV and Spark TV) to deliver their long-term strategy, business plans and annual performance targets, to maximize value to shareholders.

Experience
Susan rejoins NMG from Ayiva Consulting Solutions where she is currently the managing director. She previously worked for Urge Uganda, a full-service marketing communications agency handling some of the biggest accounts across different sectors.

Susan`s wealth of experience spans over 2 decades in leadership within sectors like financial services, media, telecommunications at both strategic and implementation levels.


She previously served as Head of Marketing for Vision Group for 8 years managing the corporate marketing and communications functions.
During her stay at Vision Group, she was overseeing a 30-member team with key deliverables in direct brand management, public relations, internal and external communications, corporate positioning, product and service launches, advertising, event management and sales collateral among other functions of marketing.

She is remembered for having promoted and elevated the Vision Group brand boosted its market share and profitability year on year since joining.
Prior to joining Vision Group, Susan worked at dfcu Bank as their Head of marketing for over 3 and half years.

She is remembered for her key role in the development and launch of Dembe account one of DFCU`s most successful products among other key projects and responsibilities.

Susan is currently a member of the Strategy and Audit, Risk & Compliance board committees of NMGU and is the board chair at African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME), among other boards.

Education
Susan is a Member of CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM), holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Makerere University among her other qualifications.

Who is Seanice Lojede Kacungira?

Seanice is one of Uganda`s most outstanding media, marketing and entrepreneurs who pioneered digital marketing. She has gathered over 15 years of highly successful communications expertise.

She is the current Co-founder of Blu Flamingo Digital Africa a pan African full service digital marketing & advertising agency headquartered in South Africa and branches in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Nigeria

Why she stands out

She is also a Founder DigiCon academy an online tech platform teaching digital skills taught over 20,000  individuals to date.

Seanice is a published author in the London Journal of Digital & Social Media Marketing
She is an unconventional thinker who started her first business aged 12 teaching dances to kids in primary school.

Experience

She is an experienced and highly trained radio & TV presenter having worked at Capital FM, Uganda & Kenya, East Africa FM, Sanyu FM, WBS TV & NTV- Guest host.

She cofounded Blue Flamingo Africa 6 years ago and has managed clients including Centenary Bank ,Airtel among other brands responsible for all day-to-day management decisions and for implementing the long- and short-term plans. She is also directly responsible  for the Board and management of the Company and communicates to the Board on behalf of management

 

She was a TV Presenter on ‘Sweet talk’  on WBS TV a biweekly lifestyle show that ran on WBS TV with a panel of four women. Seanice, Melinda, Olga, and Crystal. From the lighthearted to the serious issues the provided a multi-dimensional perspective from four very different points of view.

She was also a program’s Director/Presenter Sanyu FM Kampala’s leading Radio Station playing todays best Music for 2 years

Seanice also worked as Director, Program Controller for 98.4 Nairobi, Kenya for over 4 years.

Education
Among her various qualifications, Seanice holds Stanford Seed Transformation Program Certificate. The Seed Transformation Program is a yearlong leadership program for established founders and CEOs in emerging economies focused on growing their businesses and increasing the positive impact they have in their communities.

She also holds Information Technology Project Management certificate from Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management

Seanice is a graduate of Mass Communication, PR, Journalism and Broadcasting from Makerere University

REMMIE KISAKYE – WIM

Who is Remmie Kisakye?

Remmie is the new CEO of Majestic Brands Limited a company of the Buganda Kingdom.

Majestic Brands Limited (MBL) was established by the Buganda Kingdom to undertake innovative and competitive activities to harness the Buganda Brand. Majestic Brands is mainly responsible for business mobilization, stakeholder management, partnerships, and alliances for Buganda Kingdom.

Experience
Remmie is a chartered marketer with over 15 years’ experience in marketing strategy and communications, brand and product management, advertising and publicity, media sales and buying as well as stakeholder relations.

Prior to Majestic Brands, Remmie served as Head of Brand and Communications at Airtel Uganda for six years and she will be remembered for her key role in uplifting the Airtel Brand under key partnerships including Airtel rising stars, Uganda Cranes sponsorship, the Kabaka birthday run, the Airtel Masaza Cup partnership with Airtel among others.

At Airtel, Remmie also served as Media and Advertising Manager for four years responsible for brand and product advertising, media relationships and communications. She excelled tremendously at this and was elevated to head the Brand and communications department.

Besides telecom, Remmie has worked within the media, real estate, FMCG sectors.

Why Remmie stands out.
From Head of Marketing to now CEO, serving the biggest kingdom ,Remmie is not a new face in Mengo as she is working closely with the kingdom.

 

Kisakye was nicknamed ‘the deal breaker’ by her team, for the many projects she has worked on and ensured Airtel won big. Kisakye is known for her love for red, football, in general the Buganda Kingdom partnership with Airtel and the K2 deal.

Her tact to turn around product and service communication campaigns has always been commendable. She is known to shake up the floor until success is visible.

Remmie holds an Msc in Marketing. She is a chartered marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK.,a member of Uganda Marketer’s Society (UMS), American Marketing Association(AMA) and the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI)
